BRIAN EDWARD STARON

October 6, 1962  -  June 27, 2019

On October 26, there was a Broken Wand Ceremony held for magician, Brian E. Staron.  He was a recent member of RING16, and we were happy to accept him into our group.  The following is the obituary that appeared in the Dyersburg State Gazette newspaper:

“Brian Edward Staron, 56, of Dyersburg, Tennessee passed away on June 27, 2019 in Bartlett, Tennessee. Brian served the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ congregation as the Children & Family minister. Brian was born on October 6, 1962 at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in California. He was the son of the late Stan and Eileen Staron.

Brian was united in marriage to Carol Dial on August 18, 1984 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was a devoted husband to Carol for 34 years. To their union were born two sons: Kyle, 32, who resides in Southern Pines, North Carolina with his wife Shannon and Casey, 30, who resides in Bowling Green, Kentucky with his wife Carly.

Brian began practicing magic at the age of 11 and performed his first stage show at the age of 13. He was a widely recognized magician who performed from the Boardwalk at Disney World to Friday nights at the Dyer County Fair and all over the United States from coast to coast. Brian was also a regular entertainer on the Crystal Cruise Line which allowed he and Carol to travel the world while he did what he loved. Brian considered the highlight of his career the honor of performing at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles, an exclusive “club” for magicians. Brian loved to make people laugh and would do anything to make someone smile. And he did that so well.

Brian served as a youth minister beginning in 2001 where he impacted many lives, young and old. As much as Brian loved to make people laugh for a moment with his magic and comedy, he knew that spreading the good news of the gospel was eternal and most important. His open door policy often made their home a gathering place for youth — a place where they found unconditional love. He was honored to serve as the Director of the Ministering 2 Youth (M2Y) conference that is held annually in Gatlinburg, TN. His passion for touching young people’s lives will never be forgotten as he led many people to Christ.

A memorial service for Brian was held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 2pm at the West Dyersburg Church of Christ. The family sincerely asked that, instead of sending flowers, make contributions to the M2Y conference board of directors so that they are able to carry out Brian’s wishes and continue to impact the lives of many.”
